TOUR ITINERARY
1. Vehicle Tour to Summit:
Your day begins with a comfortable vehicle tour to the summit of Haleakala volcano, an ascent that takes you to an impressive elevation of nearly 10,000 feet above sea level. Along the way, enjoy the insightful commentary provided by your guide, who will share fascinating information about the park’s geology, flora, fauna, and cultural significance.
2. Informative Tour of Haleakala National Park:
Upon arrival at the summit, take part in an informative tour of Haleakala National Park. This guided experience provides you with a deeper understanding of the park’s unique features, including the volcanic crater, native Hawaiian plants, and the significance of the area to Hawaiian culture.
3. Bike Ride Begins:
As your national park tour concludes, get ready for an exhilarating adventure like no other. Your selfguided bike ride starts just outside the park entrance at an elevation of approximately 6,500 feet. The crisp mountain air and panoramic vistas create the perfect backdrop for your downhill journey.
4. “Fabulous 29” Switchbacks:
Prepare for the thrill of a lifetime as you descend the world-famous “Fabulous 29” switchbacks down through the historic Haleakala Ranch. The winding road offers a unique one-of-a-kind biking experience, with each turn revealing stunning vistas of the island below. It’s a ride that combines excitement and natural beauty in perfect harmony.
5. Upcountry Scenic Tour:
Per Maui County law, bike riding is not allowed through the Kula community. Just before entering the residential area of Kula, we’ll board the vehicle and transport guests through Kula. You’ll gain insights into the local culture and enjoy the tranquility of rural Maui on the drive.
6. Bike Ride Resumes:
Your biking adventure continues in the beautiful area of Olinda, riding past Haleakala Ranch, Oskie Rice Rodeo, and Kaonoulu Ranch. Make a stop in the paniolo (cowboy) town of Makawao and browse the quaint shops after enjoying a delicious lunch (no host). Afterwards, continue riding your bike down to the historic North Shore town of Haiku where our shop is located, and the bike ride concludes.
