Beautiful sunrise follow by beautiful downhill ride

We had such a nice time on this bike tour! It is definitely an early start, but don’t let that scare you. The tour guide was very informative and engaging and taught us lots about Haleakala and Maui. After sunrise, it’s a leisurely downhill coast down back to the bike shop. There are shops and restaurants along the way if you’re so inclined or you can just enjoy the ride. There are only like 3 small uphill sections but they’re short and in the scheme of the whole ride no big deal. Definitely recommend!

Our guide Rich was excellent and very knowledgeable. He made the day all the better. We had the deluxe tour and had a great view up at the crater, luckily the clouds cleared just as we got up there. The biking part is very fun, quite fast as well. It was not hard biking but there are a few uphill sections that can be a challenge to get up(I had to walk up one). We stopped for lunch on the way down at the Kula Lodge and it was excellent as well. Definitely recommended.

We had a terrific time on this tour. The guides were outstanding and the scenery and views breathtaking. Getting up in the wee hours was difficult, but worth it. Bikes were nice and in good condition. Ride was easy as it was nearly all downhill.

Tour is highly recommended for anyone wanting to see the volcano and the island from a different perspective.

Awesome

Easy check in, organized, shuttle ride informative, driver made sure we knew how to get back on self guided portion, excellent experience Would definitely book with this company again!

Interesting culture, beautiful scene and fun downhill

We got exactly what we thought we would get. It was the self guided downhill. The rest is guidedand well done. If you are confident on a bicycle, it's perfect for you. If you are a little apprehensive on a bike, you might consider the guided tour. They use vans to block the traffic from behind and pull over a bunch to let the car traffic pass. If you are confident on a bike, this will drive you kinda crazy. Either way, it's worth getting up too early on a vacation morning.

Great Sunrise and Bike Tour

We did the Sunrise self-guided bike ride. Pick up is EARLY, but they get you to the top of the volcano so you can get a good spot with a view. Immediately after sunrise, you get back in the van and drive out of the park to pick up your bikes, and then you coast downhill for 22 miles. Beautiful ride, going early meant the roads weren't crowded and I mostly felt very safe. Bikes and gear were in good shape too!

Best thing to do on the island

The sunrise was spectacular and the self guided bike ride down the mountain is unbelievable. If you are into out door adventure this is a huge MUST. The entire package is downplayed online- we got the heads up to do the tour from other tourists we ran into and are SO glad we did. unique and unbelievable experience.

Haleakala tour and unguided bike ride

As others have mentioned, we did this early in our vacation before we had adjusted to the time change. Up at 3am, the tour bus picked us up to go to the shop to get outerwear and verify our bikes. We brought lots of layers from home and were very glad we did. The guide chatted on our drive up and then brought us to a great lookout spot for the sunrise. We were very lucky that our morning was fairly clear and we got some amazing pics. My husband and I are experienced bikers and were glad we chose the self-guided option. We had an easy ride down, and stopped for breakfast at the suggested spot. It was a fabulous morning.

sunrise bike ride with by daughter

This was a great memory making experience. The team had all the gear ready for us and good instruction to keep safe. I felt very taken care of throughout the entire experience. My daughter and I had a great time. Loved the lavender gift shop along the way too. Highly recommend.

An absolute must on Maui

The tour guides were efficient and thorough as well as entertaining. They answered questions and provided information about the island and it’s history. Wonderful experience! Highly recommend !!!

Great family activity

After recovering from the 2am wake up call, my family really enjoyed the excursion.
We planned ahead and brought clothing to help keep us warm in the pre-dawn hours atop the crater, so the cold weather wasn't an issue.
It is a very easy ride (you brake way more than you pedal), but you need to confident on a bike. The road is open to automobiles and you have to maneuver several tight turns. Stay alert, don't get mesmerized by the views and you will have a great ride.
