After your summit experience, we do a van tour of the park and put you on the bikes at the park entrance. What lies before you is Maui’s famous downhill. You drop 3,000′ in 10 miles and curve around 29 switch backs. Stop often and enjoy the incredible vistas of west Maui surrounded by the Pacific. Below 4,000′ you come to “Upcountry Maui”. Vegetable truck farms, protea farms, lodges, galleries and Kula botanical gardens.  Further down the mountain is Makawao town- Paniolo (cowboy) country. Boutiques, shops, and wonderful places to eat where you can stop and enjoy a leisurely meal.

winding roadTransportation to and from our shop for our Summit Deluxe can be provided for and extra $25 a person. We will pick you up at your hotel approximately 2 hours before our scheduled departure time. You then our tour guide will treat you to an island tour as we shuttle you and other passengers from West, South or Central Maui to our location in beautiful Haiku, located on the north shore of the island.If requesting the hotel pickup option, you MUST call us to make your reservation and confirm availability of the pickup at your location. Customers that choose to BE PICKED UP will have the convenience of not having to deal with drive times and directions. Although the bike ride is self-paced, the designated return time to our shop will be 2:30pm in order to return you to your hotel.
If you miss this departure time, public transportation is available provided by the county every hour and a half starting at 3:15pm.

Customers that choose to DRIVE TO OUR LOCATION in Haiku will have the extended freedom to bike down and not have to be back to our shop until 4:00pm, our closing time. You will also have the convenience of your own car, allowing you to further explore this side of Maui right after your bike trip.

Inclusions: Helmet, backpack, gloves and rain/wind gear. Transportation to the Summit, and a narrated tour of the national park. Insure your bike and equipment for an extra $4 per person. Payable at the time of check-in.

Special Notes: ***For passengers that may be joining their family members on the bike ride, but may not be interested in biking themselves, we offer an Upcountry Van tour in conjunction with the bike ride. Definitions: Children under 8 years of age cannot ride by themselves. 6-8 year olds can ride on trailer-bikes.

Cancellation Policy

All paid bookings will be charged a ten percent (10%) cancellation fee in the last 15 days before departure. The last 48 hours before departure, you will be charged a fifty percent(50%) cancellation fee. The last 24 hours before the tour - Absolutely no refund. No Refunds will be issued to "No Shows".   Cancelations due to medical reasons can result in a refund if a doctor’s note is provided.

Groups of 10 or more must cancel at least 1 week (7 days) prior to their scheduled activity date.  If a cancelation for a group booking is made after the 7 day mark, there will be no refund issued.

Activities may be canceled by Haleakalā Bike Co. dba Haleakalā Bike Co. for reasons including but not limited to inclement weather, road hazards, lack of participation, resource allocation etc. In the event of a canceled activity the following options will be available to the clients. A trip that is cancelled prior to any services provided will result in first the option to reschedule.  If the client is unable to reschedule a full refund may be issued on a case by case basis.

Activities may be modified, shortened, or changed for but not limited to the reasons stated above.  If the company does modify the activity, the price of the downgraded activity will still be applied and difference refunded.

Customers may decline to participate in their scheduled activity at any point and are encouraged to do so if they are not comfortable participating in the activity.  Those who decline to participate due to the nature of the activity may request a refund if that request is made prior to services being offered.   This request must be made by filling out the refund request form available at the check-in location.  The amount of refund will be determined on a case by case basis by management.

VISITOR’S ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RISK, AND ACCEPTANCE OF RESPONSIBILITY
I, the above named person (customer), being above the age of eighteen, or the legal guardian of the above named person who is under the age of eighteen, in consideration of the services provided by Haleakala Bike Co. Inc. hereby acknowledge, agree, promise, and covenants with Haleakala Bike Co. Inc. (Hereon referred to as HABICO) and all other persons or entities, on behalf of myself, my heirs, assigns, personal representatives and estate as follows: In consideration of the services of HABICO, their officers, agents, employees, and stockholders, and all other persons or entities associated with those businesses. I agree as follows: Although Habico has taken reasonable steps to provide you with the appropriate equipment so you can enjoy an activity for which you may not be skilled, we wish to remind you this activity is not without risk. Certain risks cannot be eliminated without destroying the unique character of this activity. The same elements that contribute to the unique character of this activity can be the causes of loss of damage to your equipment or accidental injury, illness, or in extreme cases permanent trauma or death. WE do not want to frighten you or reduce your enthusiasm for this activity, but we do think that it is important to know in advance what to expect and to be informed of the inherent risks. The following describes some, but not all, of this risks. I recognize that there is an element of risk in any adventure, sport or activity associated with the outdoors. I am also fully cognizant of the risks and dangers inherent in this activity, especially riding a bicycle and coasting downhill. Knowing of the inherent risks, I hereby acknowledge that Haleakala Mountain roadways contain steep grades and sharp turns and may include hazards such as, but not limited to, uneven or unstable road surfaces, trees, branches, curbs, rocks, lava stones, loose gravel, mud, water, oil, and/or other objects on the ground or on the roadways; that weather can create slippery conditions associated with fog drip, heavy rains, sleet, ice, and snow; that fog banks can reduce visibility to near zero; that high winds and side drafts are a risk; that motor vehicles, tour buses, vans, other bicycles and bicycle riders can pose a dangerous risk to my safety, as can my personal error of the operation of the bicycle and the speed which I travel; that my bicycle riding skills and experience level are important risks for me to consider; that certain foreseeable and unforeseeable events can contribute unpredictably to the risks, dangers and hazards of this activity. Knowing of the inherent risks, I acknowledge that my participation in this activity can result in personal injury, accident and/or illness, including but not limited to sprains, torn muscles and/or ligaments, fractured or broken bones, eye damage, cuts, wounds, scrapes, abrasions, and/or contusions, dehydrations, oxygen shortage(anoxia), exposure and/or altitude sickness, head, neck and/or spinal injuries, shock, paralysis, and/or death, and that they could occur in remote places where there are no immediately available medical facilities. I also acknowledge that during the bicycle ride I may experience fatigue, chill and dizziness which may diminish my reactions time and that of others and increase the risk of accident. I hereby acknowledge the risks and dangers of this activity and certify that I am a competent bicycle rider, I am physically and mentally capable to participate in this activity, and I am capable of using the bicycle and safety helmet provided to me. I confirm that I will participate in this activity willingly and voluntarily. I further understand that Habico reserves the rights to refuse, or may terminate the participation of any person it judges to be incapable of meeting the safety requirements and/or the rigors of participating in the bicycle activity. I am aware that the mountain bike activity entails risks of injury to myself. I understand the description of these risks is not complete, that other unknown or unanticipated risks may result in injury or death. I agree to assume responsibility for the risks identified herein and those risks that are not specifically identified. My participation in this activity is purely voluntarily, no one is forcing me to participate, and I elect to participate in spite of the risks. I possess at least the following qualifications, which I understand are prerequisites to participate in this activity. I am a competent bicycle rider. I have read and fully understand and will comply with the rules of the road displayed at Haleakala Bike Co. Inc. place of business. I certify that I am capable of participating in this activity. Therefore, I assume responsibility for myself, including my minor children, for bodily injury, death and loss of personal property and expenses thereof as a result of those inherent risks and dangers and of my negligence in participating in this activity. I further agree to hold Haleakala Bike Co. Inc., its agents, employees, and officers harmless from any liability WHATSOEVER for any bodily injury, death, loss of personal property or expenses resulting from my participation in this activity. I have read, do understand and accept the terms and conditions stated herein and acknowledge that this agreement shall be effective and binding upon myself, my heirs, assigns, personal representative and estate and for all member of my family, including any minors accompanying me.
