Our most popular trip is the Sunrise Special Tour. This Sunrise Tour leaves from our store two hours before sunrise. Our Summit Deluxe Tour leaves at the more reasonable hour of 9:00 am. You get to view the summit and have a van tour of the Haleakala National park before staging at 6500', where you then ride self-guided back down to the store. Don't forget to check out our economical Haleakala Express tour below.
The Sunrise special leaves our store two hours before sunrise, arriving at Haleakala's 10,023' summit about an hour before sunrise. You watch the sun come up over the crater, a truly spectacular sight. Mark Twain described sunrise at the summit of Haleakala, "...the sublimest spectacle I ever witnessed".
Some call it the eighth wonder of the world, others call it a "power center". It is all that and more. At once forbidding and compelling, Haleakala National Park is Maui's main natural attraction. Just going up the mountain is quite an experience, let alone biking down! No where else can you climb from sea level to 10,023' in less than an hour. At the summit, the 3,000' deep crater you peer down into is 7 miles long, 2 miles wide and 21 miles in circumference. Big enough to contain Manhattan!

SUMMIT DELUXE includes: bike helmet, rain/wind gear, and backpack. A narrated tour of Haleakala Nation Park, which includes the summit, crater, and visitor center. We stage at 6500', you are self guided back down to the store. It is your day on the mountain, remember have fun. Departure time is 9:00AM.
After your summit experience, we do a van tour of the park and put you on the bikes at the park entrance. What lies before you is Maui's famous downhill. You drop 3,000' in 10 miles and curve around 29 switch backs. Stop often and enjoy the incredible vistas of west Maui surrounded by the Pacific. Below 4,000' you come to "upcountry Maui". Vegetable truck farms, protea farms, lodges, galleries and Kula botanical gardens. You have the option of expanding your day and including Keokea, the Chinese community, Tedeschi Winery and the Enchanted Gardens. Further down the mountain is Makawao town- Paniolo (cowboy) country. Boutiques, shops, and wonderful places to eat where you can stop and enjoy a liesurely meal.

Our Haleakala Express Tours leave our store at 8:00am, 10:00am and 12:00pm, and other times by arrangement. What makes this trip more affordable is that we don't include the two hour Haleakala National Park van tour that we do in our Sunrise And Summit tours. Otherwise the bike ride and equipment stay the same.
If your focus is just a great bike ride down the volcano and you won't miss the crater tour or sunrise, then this is the trip for you.

After sixteen years of successful van tours of Haleakala National Park in conjunction with our bike tours. Haleakala Bike Company is now offering two new "Exclusive" van tours(no biking), one includes viewing Sunrise from the summit of Haleakala, the other tour is a day trip!
These Haleakala/Upcountry tours can be purchased exclusively or in conjunction with our downhill bike tours. Some family members may wish to bike downhill, others may opt for the tour Upcountry.
